When using a snubbing unit to run or pull tubing, tools are often needed to block the inside of the tubing. This led to the development of various internal blocking tools, such as tailpipe plugs. However, these tools need to be placed at the bottom of the well and are quite large, which can affect future well production and may even cause tubing blockages.
To address these issues, we developed a high-pressure ceramic rupture disk. Each tubing size corresponds to a specific rupture disk size, such as a 2.3-inch tubing matching a 2.3-inch rupture disk. The rupture disks are available in two series for different wellhead pressures: 70 MPa and 105 MPa. These disks can withstand pressures of 70 MPa or 105 MPa in the forward direction. When the snubbing operation is complete, the disk can be broken in the reverse direction at a pressure of 5-15 MPa (under normal bottom hole pressure and dry conditions). The disk shatters into small fragments, preventing blockages caused by other internal blocking tools.
